If you are a bit of a foody like me and are bored one Saturday morning I cannot suggest anything better than heading down to Borough Market just by London Bridge for an amazing food experience. Especially this time of year as they serve up steaming mulled wine and juicy hog roasts in crusty baguettes, literally AMAZING.
There is such a delicious selection of food that you can spend hours meandering between the stalls past paella, German sausage and roast dinner mingling with regular Londoners as well as the hundreds of tourists who are drawn to the amazing location next to Southwark Cathedral and under the train lines just deciding what to choose! And considering it is prime tourist area it is not that expensive especially with the big portions, yum yum!
Unfortunately it does have a slight downfall:the huge pull of tourists which it brings. This makes it difficult for locals to mingle and make the most of what Borough Market has to offer.
But bare in mind that it is not only open at weekends but Thursday and Friday as well, Thursday being the best day to go for hands on demonstrations as well as the Jubilee Market. If you are a working girl like moi, make sure you get there between 8am and 10am on a Saturday to really get the pick of the crop.
A little something to do on these cold wintery days….
